ADVENTURES IN HOTDOGS

Dear friends, it was not my intention to neglect you.  Last Monday my computer got a virus.  No problem I just pulled out the ten year old lap top, which I happen to be working on now, it seems to be getting the job done, and Billy can still do his morning crossword puzzles(very important).  Tuesday I got a virus, it appears to be a summer flu which has derailed me for over a week.  I am back and I have missed you so!
So today is not really a recipe so much as inspiration.  Tomorrow is the 4th of July, Independence Day.  The day in which we celebrate with friends and family this great country we live in.
What says 4th of July picnic like the humble hotdog?  It’s a hand held meal.  It’s an adventure in a bun.  There’s something for everyone, beef, pork, turkey, vegi.  The toppings are numerous.
Think Mexican:  top your dog with guacamole, salsa and Jack cheese.
Greek:  Tzatziki, tomatoes, cucumbers and olives.
Southern:  mustard, tangy coleslaw and banana peppers.
Reuben: sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and Thousand Island dressing.
I encourage you to go beyond mustard, ketchup and relish.  Where will your hotdog adventure take you this 4th of July?
